How to Install iTVPlayer for Apple TV

Hi Guy's

First up you need to grab the addon from googlecode and install using the .zip method.
Once installed make two folders called Images and Subtitles in the following location
Openelec
/storage/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.itv
Live
/home/xbmc/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.itv
Windows
%AppData%\XBMC\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.itv
Back on googlecode there were two more files on the download page. default.py and addon.xml. These need to be copied over the your normal addons folder to replace the existing ones.
Openelec
/storage/.xbmc/addons/plugin.video.itv
Live
/home/xbmc/.xbmc/addons/plugin.video.itv
Windows
%AppData%\XBMC\addons/plugin.video.itv

Thats it for the install. Fire up XBMC and check it’s there

Unfortunatly there are no catagories or search features like we find in the iplayer addon. Once you load this one up you’re dropped into a list. Hopefully this is something the devs can work on in future releases. Changing the view can give a nice wall of thumbnails so it’s not too fugly to look at.

Stream wise iTVPlayer does a pretty good job. The addon config page suggests there are H.264 (1200kb) streams and some of the contenT.

Essential addon for UK user!!!

How to Customize Notification Banners?

 Hi Guy's,

Want to Customize Notification Banners? Since Apple introduced iPhone iOS5 and every now and then we read about new tweaks being released covering different ideas and topics, and we read that most of the times these applications are released on Cydia either for free or paid.

One of these tweaks that has been released and improved by the jailbroken people was a one regarding the notification center and the notification banners that appear on the top of your screen.

This application which has been aroused on Cydia is called Vexillum and it deals with customizing your background and font colors of your notification banners.

To activate Vexillum on your iPhone, follow these steps:

Step1- Go to Cydia → ModyMyi repo and download Vexillum app for free
Step2- Install on your iPhone
Step3-On your iPhone, go to settings
Step4- Tap on Vexillum application tab
Step5- Choose from the customization option what suits you
Step6- There is the email of the developer in case of support
Step7- When any change is done, effects take place immediately (there is no need to reboot)

So, are you willing for a change?

xMessages Tweak

Hi Guy's,

How to include the contact’s picture in your messages’ application?
There were several applications that were used for the purpose of inserting a contact’s picture in the message application and some of these applications were ChatPic as well as Copic.
Recently, there was this new Cydia tweak, xMessages that chooses the picture from the contact list and attach it to your message threads.

How to Include The Contact's Picture in your Messages' Application

Step1- First, go to cydia to download this application “for free”

Step2- Install on your iPhone

Step3- Go to settings app

Step4- Click on xMessages tab and then switch the two coming options to ON

Hope that the picture made it easier for you to understand the procedures. Adding more tweaks can make your iPhone more appealing and amusing.

Will adding xMessages make it more entertaining?

Download xMessages from Cydia for FREE!!!

RedSn0w 0.9.10b5 has been released

Hi Guys,

The iPhone Dev-Team has just released RedSn0w 0.9.10b5 which includes the fix for the iBooks DRM by planetbeing, who has developed a utility called “crazeles”.

Redsn0w version b5 incorporates yet another fix for iBooks, this time involving DRM.  @planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly.  This fix is similar to the “hunnypot” fix that @comex wrote for the 4.x jailbreak.

As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).

On the other hand is expected that the Chronic Dev team will issue a new update of Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether in the next few hours. Corona 1.0.6 will fix the same iBooks issue.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 for Mac

Create custom Siri Introduction

Hi Guys,

Tired of the mundane “beep” that Siri does when you initially invoke her? Maybe you found our tutorial on how to make Siri say “Yes?” compelling?

If that wasn’t enough for you, then you can take it a step further and create your own custom Siri audio introduction as well. Check inside for our full tutorial…

Step 1: Create a custom 1-2 second audio file and name it jbl_begin with a .caf extension. See our video for more details.

Step 2: SSH into your device, and venture to the System/Library/Audio/UISounds/ directory, and rename the jbl_begin.caf file to jbl_begin.caf.old to save it off.

Step 3: Copy your custom jbl_begin.caf file to the System/Library/Audio/UISounds/ directory, then invoke Siri to test out the change. You should hear your custom sound instead of the standard Siri beep.

There will undoubtedly be a jailbreak tweak in the future that will allow you to record and create your own custom Siri intro sounds right on the device, but for now, this is a fairly easy to follow workaround.

What do you think?

Assistant Extentions (For use with Siri - Jailbroken iphone4s)

A new tweak has arrived for extending Siri!!

Basically,it adds more commands & you can chat to Siri about basically anything...pretty cool!!

Below are some examples!!

Enjoy!!

Use Siri to Tweet! (Jailbroken Devices Only)

Hi Guys,

Tyler (a 17 year old hacker and iOS coder) has managed to bypass Siri’s inability to send tweets.
Soon you will be able to speak out your tweets and have them sent to your twitter account, This of course after configuring your twitter account through settings.
The tweak is still under development but it’s really not that far from being released. It’s now missing two small things.
  • The First letter of the tweet isn’t capitalized.
  • It doesn’t allow you to preview the tweet before sending it to make sure every thing is ok.
The Tweak is expected to be available on Cydia in about a weeks time for FREE!!!

I can't personally wait, as i use Twitter quiet alot, and think this will blow twitter to a whole new level!!

How to Copy Music from iPod to the Computer

This is how I copy my Music, so I thought I would share!!! There are many other ways of doing this, But I find this is the quickest, easiest & less hassle!!!

Step-to-Step Guide:

1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.

2. Open up 'My Computer' and under 'Devices With Removable Storage', double click and open apple iPod.

3. Click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and drag down to 'Folder Options'.

4. Under the 'View' tab, find the subfolder called 'Hidden files and folders'.

5. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders'.

6. Click 'OK'.

7. Double click on the newly shown 'iPod_Control' folder and open up the folder called 'Music'. These folders are named randomly and your music is impossible to find individually.

8. Select all the folders and copy them to a new folder on your hard drive. You are now done with your iPod. Eject it if you wish.

9. Open up iTunes. In the new folder you created, open up each individual folder labeled 'F##' select all the music files in the folder and drag them into your library in iTunes. iTunes will already have the tags stored for these songs so renaming them should not be an issue.

10. Alternatively, Press F3 to enter search, and enter "*.mp3" (no quotes) to find all the MP3 files at once, then press CTRL+A to select all the found files then copy them to a folder on your computer. This way all the music files are in the same folder which makes it far more simple to import them into iTunes. (If any of your files are in MPEG4 format, you can search for "*.m*" to generate a list of all your songs.) (see Warning below)

My Tips
  • You can't drag a whole folder into iTunes. It will not recognize the file tags and you will not know which song is which.
  • The detailed folder view in Windows XP will read the tags off of the mp3s and display the proper Artist, Title, and Album information. The columns should show up by default, but can be added if they do not. This may work for other versions of Windows (someone please verify).
  • FYI: One more thing to note, If you have bought songs from itunes and the computer you are storing the songs on is not the computer you have purchased the songs from they will be copied but may not be played because of AAC format. This format is protected and may not be played on and other computer unless purchasing a licence which is the same price as the song in the first place
Warnings

If you follow the step #10, to copy all the songs at once, you may run into trouble if multiple songs in different 'F##' folders have been given the same random name. For example, you may have several different songs given the same name '01Track01.m4a'. When you try to copy them all to the same new folder on your computer, you will either not get all the songs from your iPod, or you will have to manually copy over all the duplicate named ones into separate folders, which is very time-consuming. It may turn out to be faster to use the first method above (copying each F## folder to iTunes separately).

Hope this works out for you, feel free to comment below if you have any issues or questions.

Belfry Tweak for iPad & iPad 2!

Hi Guys,

Ryan Petrich has released Belfry, a new tweak that will install all the iPhone-speicific iOS native apps that are missing from the iPad. To be more specific, Belfry will install the Clock, Calculator, Compass, Voice Memos, Stocks and Weather apps to your iPad.

Installation may take several minutes. You will be required to reboot to complete the task. Be patient. Additional files from the Internet will be downloaded during the installation phase.

NOTE: Voice Memos and Compass are not playing well with iPad’s screen resolution. Weather and Calculator need the 2X mode for full screen ( or maybe Ryan Petrich’s RetinaPad ).

It's free in Cydia via BigBoss repo…

A MUST have for any iPad I think.....

A New Alternative To Siri For iPhone and iPad

Everybody is just dying to have Siri on their iDevices. But for most people, Siri won’t justify upgrading to an iPhone 4S. So, you wait for workarounds. One of them is Spire.

Spire is great, but to set it up, there’s a lot of work, you still need an iPhone 4S, and to actually use Siri, you need a computer that runs SiriProxy all the time. Not really a walk in the park, but that’s the best we can do right now.
If you’re not ready to board the Spire train, you should take a look at Evi – a new alternative to Siri for iOS and Android devices that uses artificial intelligence to provide assistance.
Unlike a search engine, which simply looks for matching words and shows you a list of websites, Evi understands what you want to know and gives back exactly what you’re after.
Need to know where the nearest bank is? Not a problem. Going out for dinner but can’t decide where? She can help with that too. The more you ask, the more she will learn, and thus she is improving all the time.
Life is simpler with Evi.

Features:
  • Voice or text input – Chat to Evi in plain English and she will understand
  • Local information for UK and USA – Shopping, news, dining and more. Evi knows where you are and gives answers based on your location
  • One tap words – Allowing you to build your question super-fast
  • Built in browser – No need to swap to a different browser, view web links within Evi’s app
  • A learning and adapting intelligence – Rate Evi’s answers to help her learn more about the world
  • More than a search engine – Evi takes the searching out of search, able to review and compare nearly a billion facts from her database to give you exactly what you need
Evi is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 and up, and it’s available in the app store

SiriToggles - Further Siri Functionality With Voice Toggles!!

This new jailbreak tweak dubbed SiriToggles by iOS developer Hamza Sood will give you even more Siri functionality that we just know that all of you have been dying for.
They are voice-based toggles that you can use to control the functions of your iDevice. Additionally, they could make a replacement for SBSettings. The complete list of features below:

  • Find out your battery level
  • Change screen brightness
  • Launch applications
  • Enable/disable Wi-Fi
  • Enable/disable Bluetooth
  • Enable/disable airplane mode
  • Enable/disable cellular data

In order to toggle something such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, or cellular data you have to say either, "enable/disable" or, "turn on/turn off." If you want Siri to tell you about how much battery you have left, then the developer recommends that you say something like, "how much battery do I have left?" or, "what is my remaining battery percentage?" If you want Siri to change your display brightness, then you should say something like, "set/change back-light/brightness to 50%." You can say whatever percent you want, of course. If you want Siri to launch an application for you, then simply say, "launch insert application name here" which will of course launch the application that you specify.

SiriToggles does require iOS 5 and Siri capability. You will not have any settings to configure after installing SiriToggles, but the abilities of it are already versatile. It's not hard to use and Siri can already usually make sense of what you say, for the most part that is. I think that the functionality is definitely useful and it's something that many Modmyi readers have been looking forward to using on their jailbroken iPhone 4S. I have to recommend this, there's no putting it down.

Absinthe Jailbreak iPhone 4S / iPad 2 5.0.1 Untethered Coming in Few Hours!!!

Jailbreak iPhone 4S / iPad 2 with Absinthe!!Pod2g finally announced about the name of iPhone 4S / iPad 2 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak. In a blog post Pod2g is confirming officially that the upcoming iPhone 4S / iPad 2 untethered jailbreak on 5.0.1 will be called Absinthe (Which i mentioned earlier today in my twitter) and it will be released within few hours, the tool has been developed by the Chronic Dev Team.

As I've told you before that iPhone Dev-team will also release Redsn0w to jailbreak iPhone 4S / iPad 2 5.0.1 untethered. So we will get two jailbreak programs, Absinthe and Redsn0w!!!
I know the wait was long, too much long, but it's about to end! You'd be able to free your iPhone in some hours!!!
It will be like buying a new iPhone/iPad all over again!!! :-)

A tool named Absinthe and developped by the Chronic Dev Team will install the untether on your device. Also the iPhone Dev Team will release a CLI (command line) tool to help diagnose issues and repair things if it goes wrong.

Absinthe Untethered Jailbreak will support below devices :

  • iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)
  • iPad 2 Wifi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1

A5 Corona Jailbreak Update!!!

This is the latest info regarding the upcoming A5 Jailbreak for the iPhone 4s & iPad 2!!!

This has been taken from The Dev-Teams official Blog!!!

Corona A5 jailbreak nearly ready to pop!

Ever since the December release of @pod2g’s “corona” untether for iOS 5.x on A4 and earlier devices, all eyes have been on the attempts to extend it to the A5 devices: the iPhone4S and iPad2.  Due to the combined efforts of @pod2g and members of the iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team, we’re nearly ready for a general release!  All technical hurdles dealing with the underlying technique have been overcome, and it’s now all about making the jailbreak as bug free as possible.
On his blog, @pod2g playfully nicknamed the combined effort a “dream team”.  It’s an ironic name, because the past few weeks have left everyone involved with very little sleep and the opportunity to dream :) But we’re now near the final stages of testing the public version of the jailbreak.  Please allow time to clean up any remaining bugs in the jailbreak clients.
Jailbreak programs:
To be as flexible as possible, the A5 version of the corona jailbreak will take multiple forms:
  • Chronic Dev have incorporated the overall flow into a GUI that runs on your Mac or PC
  • iPhone Dev have incorporated the exact same flow into a command-line interface (CLI).  This will allow us to help users through individual steps of the jailbreak manually, to both help the user and help improve the overall flow.  Although the CLI will also allow the user to perform the entire jailbreak from beginning to end, we anticipate it will be more useful in debugging the occasional errors.  The CLI currently has over 20 individual options (in addition to the single “jailbreak” option) that should be useful during debug after the GUI release.
  • Once all the bugs in the flow are worked out, we’ll also incorporate it into the redsn0w GUI (but still leave the CLI freely available too).  In order to maximize the chances of the jailbreak working for everyone, the redsn0w GUI will use native Apple iTunes libraries — this technique is slightly different than how the Chronic Dev GUI handles communications, and should provide nice combined coverage for all the odd computer configurations out there.
Paypal Contributions:
Because there were so many different people and teams involved in the A5 corona release, we all felt the most equitable approach to any Paypal contributions should involve a single shared account.  If you do feel the desire to contribute to the “dream team” Paypal account, it will be distributed to the members according to internally agreed-upon proportions :)  The same link will be on both the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev versions of the GUI.  This method seemed like the fairest to everyone involved!
Firmware:
The supported firmware versions will be:
  • iPhone4S: 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406)
  • iPad2: 5.0.1 (9A405)
iPhone4S owners looking to maximize their chances of achieving an eventual software-based carrier unlock should be staying at 5.0.  Everyone else should be at 5.0.1.  If you’re an iPhone4S owner who already updated to 5.0.1, it’s too late to go back down to 5.0, but if you’re on 9A406 it is possible to downgrade the BB by going to the 9A405 version of 5.0.1 while the window is still open.
Support:
The overall flow used by the GUI and CLI to inject the A5 corona jailbreak has never been done before, and there may be unforeseen problems once it’s released to the public.  It’s very important for you to sync your data, photos, and music before attempting any version of this jailbreak.  We’ll be watching the comments section below for signs of any widespread problems, but please be aware that you jailbreak at your own risk!
When:
As mentioned at the start of this post: when testing has shown most of the bugs have been fixed!

I can't wait!!!
